BIO
My Professional Portfolio
I earned a BS in Chemistry and an Education minor from Binghamton University, State University of New York. In the Fall of 2017, I joined the Williams lab at NC State University for my PhD studies in Chemistry. I am interested in leveraging biosynthetic pathways for natural product diversification.

NC STATE UNIVERSITY
Chemistry, Graduate Student
2017-present
In the Williams lab, we focus on better understanding how biological enzymatic pathways generate natural products, and how we can engineer the pathways to create novel natural products with new or improved medicinal properties. The focus of my research project is to leverage genetically encoded biosensors to engineer antibiotic-producing microbes in a high-throughput manner.

BINGHAMTON UNIVERSITY
Chemistry, BS
2013-2017
I specialized in Dr. Jones’ polymer subgroup, where I concentrated in organic synthesis. The research was focused on the synthesis of a fluorescent conjugated polymer to detect fluoride anions. My role was to create the polymer precursors, and to utilize different organic chemistry techniques and procedures to optimize the sensitivity of the chemosensor.
