PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

At NC State University, I was accepted into the NIH Molecular Biotechnology Training Program (MBTP). This fellowship includes coursework in Biotechnology to complete a Biotechnology graduate minor, professional development coursework, a service project, and a 3 month industrial internship. 


As an undergraduate at Binghamton University, I was accepted into the McNair Scholars Program. This Federal TRiO program offers resources to low-income, first-generation or underrepresented students that wish to be involved in research and ultimately obtain a PhD.

TEACHING AND COMMUNICATION CERTIFICATE

Fall 2018 - present

​Completed over 100 hours of approved workshops and teaching hours or development series or other training activities, plus a personalized professional portfolio. The following workshops were completed:

  • Tips for Managing the Classroom Environment

  • How to Deliver a Job Talk

  • How to Write a Statement of Teaching Philosophy

MOLECULAR BIOTECHNOLOGY TRAINING PROGRAM

Spring 2018 - present

Completed a capstone biotechnology course which offers case studies and the opportunity to work with students from different disciplines on a design project. Other course requirements during the traineeship include instruction in research ethics and professional development. Additionally, trainees create a service project to foster the development of biotechnology by encouraging this career route among K-12 or undergraduate students.

FOUNDATIONS IN TEACHING PROGRAM

The FIT program is a one year course of study that offers graduate students a chance to demonstrate their commitment to teaching excellence through training, evaluation and recognition.  The FIT certificate is recognized by the graduate school.

McNAIR SCHOLARS PROGRAM

Summer 2016 - Spring 2017

I participated in the McNair Scholars Summer Research Internship Program where I conducted research in inorganic chemistry (PI - Dr. Jones), attended weekly seminar/events, and presented research at the annual McNair Conference at SUNY Buffalo. â€‹Throughout the year, I completed McNair professional development coursework which included weekly research updates and seminars for graduate school preparation.
